They just added the components to drive the plumbing system. With a trailer this old, anything electrical or plumbing-related needs to be modernized. In fact, Kenny said that the original design did not really have tanks for the "outflow" which is generally considered very uncool by today's standards. So he is adding tanks, a pump and the other components to help provide running water and handle the outgoing things.
